Membership & Volunteering
Become a member of the Friends of Grant Cottage!

Our day-to-day operations are possible due to your generous memberships.  As one of the few New York State Historic Sites operating without a state employee on-site, our members have been crucial to keeping the place going throughout the years.

As a member of the Friends of Grant Cottage, you will receive:

  • A year’s free admission at the Cottage
  • An invitation to our annual meeting where you will have the opportunity to engage in discussion about the past, present, and future of the site.
  • A subscription to the Grant Cottage Chronicles
  • A 10% discount at The Cottage Gift Shop

If you are already a Grant Cottage Volunteer use this link to sign in to the Scheduler.

Volunteer at the Cottage!

Tour guides lead visitors through the few open rooms open to the public in the cottage, focusing on the final days of the general’s life.  Training, a detailed lesson plan, and supplemental material is provided to all volunteers, thus applicants need not have substantial background knowledge of the material.

This is a voluntary, on-call position--the hours and days are very flexible.  The Cottage is open Wednesday to Sunday, Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Also open weekends from Labor Day through Columbus Day.
